CALACUS APPOINTED TO RUN CAMPAIGN FOR UCI PRESIDENT BRIAN COOKSON

Calacus has been appointed by Brian Cookson, the current President of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), to run his re-election campaign.

Cookson, who became President of the world governing body for the sport of cycling in 2013, is standing for a second term on a platform to drive growth across all cycling’s disciplines, accelerate international development and champion cycling for transport and leisure.

He also aims to build on the restored credibility and best practice that he has overseen since becoming President.

Calacus Managing Director, David Alexander, said: “Calacus works with a wide range of sports administrators, rights holders and sponsors and we are delighted to have been invited to work with Brian Cookson on his re-election campaign.

“Cycling has gone through some challenging times over the years and the fact that they have now been handed four more medal events at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 is a testament to the progress the UCI has made under Brian Cookson’s leadership.”

UCI President Brian Cookson commented: “Calacus has a strong international reputation in the world of sports communications and I am confident that their support will be hugely beneficial to my campaign.

“David Alexander has worked at the highest level in sports journalism as well and he and his team will be invaluable as I seek to win a mandate to build on my first four years as UCI President.”

Calacus was established in 2007 and current and recent clients include Spartan Race, IOC Executive Board Member Sergey Bubka, Red Bull Air Race, Laureus World Sports Awards, Chance to Shine, SpottoCash and the International Boxing Association (AIBA).

The UCI election will take place in Bergen, Norway, in late September.
